A record-breaking 32 hearty souls subjected themselves to the annual FRWSD Prediction Run/Walk 2022 New Year’s Day morning. Participants predicted how long it would take them to run or walk one of the three madcap routes of 3.1 miles, 4.2 miles, or 5.25 miles, and then turned in their timepieces before completing their selected route while Debbie and Ken timed them.
The winner was Jay, who predicted 31 minutes for the 3.1-mile route and ran a mere 2 seconds faster! The second-best predictor was Devin who finished the 5.25-mile route in 44:45, only 13 seconds slower than his predicted time of 44:32. Our third most accurate predictor was Karen, who walked the 3.1-mile route in 59:45, just 15 seconds faster than her predicted time.
Our booby prize winner, Doug, who underestimated his speedwalking prowess by a whopping 12:36, blazing through the 3.1-mile route in 43:34, much faster than his predicted 55 minutes.
Thanks to all the other participants, and especially to Ken for deftly juggling registration, photo-taking, record-keeping and calculating results for the historic turnout. Happy New Year, everyone!
