The Saturday morning “Guardian,” Ed keeps a watch over HQ, phones, watches, bags, and the occasional dog, along with water brought by club volunteers, as runners and walkers do their thing in Balboa Park and club-organized courses of 3-6 miles that include University Avenue-Hillcrest/Air & Space Museum and Seaport Village. Settling into a folding chair, Ed solves the U-T crossword.
A member since 1998, Ed is a vet of the Chicago Marathon in 2003 at “a consistent pace,” multiple track and field competitions at Gay Games in Chicago, Koln and Sydney, and half marathons, 10 and 5Ks, locally. He’s registered for the Paris Gay Games in 2018. He proudly wears a club t-shirt at every race he participates in to promote the club!
Running 10 to 15 miles a week, Ed enjoys club social events and served as Member at Large on the club board.
Every year or so, Ed heads for Asia to meet up with Nakorn Chanyachai of Bangkok, who’s listed as part of Ed’s Household in the club directory. They look forward to rendezvousing in Hong Kong next year.
