New member Cory joined up in May, drawn by the club’s reputation as a great place to train for distance running, having conquered three 26.2 milers in his home state, Ohio, beginning in 2014 and in Houston, Texas earlier this year, and the San Diego Half for good measure. His marathon PR is a moving 3:49, with 1:34 for the half. Cory is looking forward to the club’s 5K Pride Run in July. And all on the heels, as it were, of losing 120 pounds from his 6’8” frame!
Auditioning San Diego in February from Encinitas, he moved to Hillcrest in May, loves the ‘hood, and is thrilled to be about a mile and a half from the Start at 6th and Laurel for weekday and Saturdays runs.
Running and training with a GLBT club for the first time, Cory looks forward to the club’s social opportunities, appreciates the personal kindness and welcome he’s experiencing and looks forward to experiencing San Diego. Summing it up: “I’ve trained alone a lot, now I want to train with friends.”
